The PM Vishwakarma Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to support traditional artisans and craftspeople. This scheme recognizes them as ‘Vishwakarma’ and provides financial assistance, skill training, and market access. Launched on Vishwakarma Jayanti, on September 17, 2023, the Yojana focuses on improving livelihoods by offering loans, toolkits, and digital transaction incentives.

This Yojana aims to empower the artisans and craftsmen of the Vishwakarma community economically and socially. Under this scheme, more than 140 castes will be provided loans, training, and other facilities at low interest rates to get independent employment using their skills.

What is Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana?

Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana is an important government initiative aimed at empowering traditional artisans and craftsmen. This scheme is especially for those who earn employment through their traditional skills.

Under this scheme, the government provides various types of assistance to artisans, so that they can expand their business and become self-reliant.

The main objective of the scheme is to recognize and economically empower the artisans who are engaged in their traditional occupation for several generations.


Features of Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana

Loan at a low interest rate

Under this scheme, craftsmen and artisans of the Vishwakarma community will be provided loans at very low interest rates. The purpose of this loan is to provide them with the necessary financial assistance to start or expand their business.

Under the scheme, loans will be provided to the beneficiaries in two tranches – a loan of ₹1,00,000 in the first tranche and a loan of ₹2,00,000 in the second tranche, both at an interest rate of 5%.

Training and Equipment Assistance

Under the scheme, beneficiaries will be provided free training so that they can further improve their skills. During the training, they will get an allowance of ₹500 per day, which will help cover their daily expenses.

Apart from this, an amount of ₹ 15,000 will be provided to them to purchase tool kits, so that they can carry out their work smoothly.

Detailed beneficiary coverage

More than 140 castes like Baghel, Badger, Lohar, and Panchal will get benefits under this scheme.

This scheme will not only provide financial assistance to the artisans and craftsmen of these castes but will also give them a new identity, so that they can get respect and prestige in their society.

High budget allocation

The government has set aside a budget of Rs 13,000 crore for the scheme to ensure that all beneficiaries of the scheme receive timely and adequate assistance.

Due to this higher budget allocation, the government will be able to ensure that all the eligible beneficiaries under the scheme get loans, training, and other facilities on time.

Government Identification and Certificate

Under the scheme, beneficiaries will be provided with government identification as craftsmen and artisans.

They will be issued certificates and ID cards, which will not only recognise their skills but also help them access government schemes and benefits.


Process to Register through CSC

Now, you can easily do this registration through your nearest CSC (Common Service Center). We will explain you the complete process of registering through CSC under “PM Vishwakarma Yojana”, so that you can take advantage of this scheme and take your business to new heights.

  • Visit the website https://pmvishwakarma.gov.in/ and click on the “Login” dropdown.

  • To register artisans in PM Vishwakarma, CSC users have to select “CSC- Register Artisans” option from the login dropdown.

  • Log in using your CSC username and password.

  • Select ‘No’ in the options “Is there any Government employee in your family?” and “Have you availed loan facility under similar schemes of Central Government or State Government for self-employment/business development like PMEGP or PM SVANidhi or have any outstanding loan under MUDRA?” and click on the ‘Continue’ button.

Aadhaar Verification

  • Enter “Aadhaar Linked Mobile Number” and enter the Aadhar number of artisans, click on the “OTP” button, and verify with OTP received on the Aadhar Linked Mobile Number.

  • After this do Aadhaar authentication using biometrics. For biometric authentication click on the Biometric button and do biometric authentication.

  • Fill the registration form. In the personal details section, the name, father/husband name, date of birth and gender will be automatically fetched from Aadhaar. Select the marital status, and select the category of artisan (General/SC/ST/OBC).

  • Also select whether the artisan is a Divyangjan or not, if yes then select the type of Divyangjan. Also select whether the artisan is doing business in the same state or not and whether the artisan is from a minority category or not, if yes then select the minority category.
  • In the contact details section, the mobile number and Aadhaar number will be auto-filled. Enter the PAN card number if available.

Contact Details

  • In the family details section, if there is a ration card number linked to an Aadhaar number, then the ration card number and family details will appear automatically. Otherwise, enter the ration card number to get the family details, if the ration card is not available then add family information manually.

  • In the Aadhaar Address Details section, the Aadhaar Address, State, District, and Pin Code will be auto-filled. If the Aadhaar address is the same as the current address, then click on “Same as Aadhaar Address”. And select whether the artisan falls under Gram Panchayat or not, if yes then select the Block and Gram Panchayat.

  • If the artisan belongs to an urban area, select ‘No’ in “Do you fall under Gram Panchayat?” and select the name of the ULB.

  • In the Aadhaar Address Details section, if the Aadhaar address is different, select “Other” and select whether the artisan belongs to Gram Panchayat or not and enter the current address details.

Profession/ Trade Details

  • In the Business/Trade Details section, select the name of the business/trade of the artisan. Then declare that their business/trade is a family business through Guru-Shishya tradition and select the business address, If same as the current address then select “Same as current address”,

  • If a business address is different from the Aadhaar and current address then select the other option and enter the business address.

  • In the Savings Bank Details section, select the artisan’s bank account name, enter the IFSC Code, select the bank branch name enter the account number, and confirm the account number by re-entering it.
  • In the Credit Support section, select whether the artisan needs credit support (Yes or Later) and if credit support is required, enter the amount up to Rs.1,00,000. If the artisan wants to take a loan from the same savings bank/branch, select the same savings bank account in the preferred bank/branch to take the loan,

  • Otherwise, if the artisan wants to take the loan from a different bank branch, select Other and choose which bank and branch the artisan wants to take the loan from. Select the loan purpose and enter the existing outstanding loan details (if any) and total monthly family income.

Digital Incentive Details

  • In the Digital Incentives section, select whether the artisan has a UPI ID or not, and select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. If yes, provide the details of the UPI ID. Enter the UPI ID linked mobile number, if available.

  • In the Skill Training section and Tool Kit section, read and understand the component benefits of the scheme.

  • In the Marketing Support section, select the various marketing-related support benefits available under this plan.

  • Accept the declaration and terms.

  • Click on the submit button after entering all the required information. A registration number will be generated.

  • After clicking the submit button, the registration process will be completed. The information you have provided will be reviewed and you may be contacted as needed.

After registration, you will receive a confirmation message containing your registration status and registration number.

Applicant or Beneficiary Login Process

  • Find the “Applicant/Beneficiary Login” or similar section on the homepage. This is usually at the top of the page or in a prominent place.

  • Enter the unique username or ID provided during registration.

  • Enter your password. If you are logging in for the first time, this password may be the default password given at the time of registration, which must be changed after login.
  • Complete the captcha verification process displayed on the screen to ensure you are not a bot.
  • Click on the “Login” button and you can now access the service.

How much loan amount will be available under Vishwakarma Yojana and what will be the interest rate?

Under the Vishwakarma Yojana, loans are given to craftsmen as financial assistance at concessional interest rates. The loan structure under this scheme is as follows:

  • Loan amount: Craftsmen can avail loans up to ₹3,00,000 in two phases.
  • Stage 1: Loan of ₹1,00,000 as first installment.
  • Stage 2: Loan of ₹2,00,000 as second installment after successful repayment of the first loan.
  • Interest Rate: The interest rate of the loan given under this scheme is much lower than the market rates. This concessional rate makes financial management easier for the artisans and helps them expand their business.

Eligibility Criteria of PM Vishwakarma Yojana

The objective of PM Vishwakarma Yojana is to provide support and assistance to traditional artisans and craftsmen. Under this scheme, financial assistance, skill development and other benefits are given to improve the livelihood of the artisans.

Artisan/Craftsman

This scheme is for those who are engaged in traditional crafts and artisan work, such as blacksmith, goldsmith, potter, carpenter, cobbler, mason, etc.

Age Limit

The age of the applicant should generally be between 18 to 50 years. There may be some variation in this age limit as per the scheme.

Proof of Workmanship
